I like to turn stories into .wav files – at least, that’s how I think of it.
My name is Gabi Mrozowski (she/her/hers), and I’m an audio and digital journalist with a passion for research.
Most recently, I graduated from Emerson College with a B.S. in Journalism. During my time there, I lead the student radio’s music publication, Milk Crate, and interned at WBUR, Boston’s NPR station. Boston was a great city to explore audio story-telling in all its dimensions, and the pillars of podcasting and public media drew me in.
During my last semester at Emerson, I took part in their Los Angeles program. I interned at NBC Dateline as well as Crooked Media. Both of these experiences solidified my interests in deep-dive research and audio-based narrative formats. I’m currently looking to find work at their intersection.
Expertizes
Podcasting
I love working on podcasts just as much as I love consuming them! You can find my credits on shows like “Kind World” from WBUR and “Prisoner” from Crooked Media.
Audio Editing
You can primarily find me using Adobe Audition. But since quarantine began, I’ve been learning to use ProTools. I own a TASCAM DR05, but on the search for a good external mic. Equipment recommendations are always welcome!
Research
Journalists are their own fact-checkers, first and foremost. And I employ this saying in my work. Whether it’s fact-checking line by line with a red pen in hand or filing for several FOIA requests, I’m your gal.
Social Media
With the growing trend of publications and public media joining apps like TikTok and Snapchat, I’m incredibly interested in studying new experimental ways to report the news or share a story. TikTok, specifically, has garnered my interest as an emerging platform, and I want to utilize it for unorthodox story-telling.
